DID YOU KNOW: HIV in Oklahoma edition, Part One

Attention all! In case you all didn’t know (or had forgotten)- the OKC AIDS Walk & 5K Run is coming up Sept. 25th in Bricktown. It’s always a fun event, and the money raised goes towards HIV/ AIDS treatment and prevention. (link for more info)

We are also contractually obligated to mention the awesome walk team we’re putting together for it, and remind you that if you’d like to sign up to walk with us, you can do so here. We love company!

Most importantly, this event is a good way to remind us that HIV still affects many people all over the country, including right here in Oklahoma City. Even though this disease has now plagued the world for 30 years, many still believe rumors and stereotypes about HIV, like how it is contracted, who gets infected, and what someone who is HIV+ looks like.

So here is a quick pop quiz:

What are the 4 body fluids that can transmit HIV?

How many people in Oklahoma are living with HIV or AIDS?

What age group makes up half of the new HIV infections nationwide?

(answers coming soon!!)
